Dr. Ambrose joined the faculty of the Department of Entomology in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences at North Carolina State University in 1975 as the Extension Apiculturist. He served in that capacity until 2000, when he moved into various Academic administrative positions until he fully retired from NC State in 2012. During his entire 37 year career, he had over 5000 students enrolled in his courses, and he served as advisor and mentor to a number of M.S. and Ph.D. candidates. As such, Dr. Ambrose received numerous teaching awards, was a member of the NCSU Academy of Outstanding Teachers, and was a recipient of the Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Award. The NCSBA honors his commitment to student training and university education through this award.
